About Sayville Historical Society

Sayville Historical Society preserves the history of this Long Island community through exhibits, tours, and educational programs centered on the Edwards Homestead, a farmhouse built around 1785 by Matthew Edwards, descendant of Sayville's original settlers John and Sarah Edwards. Visitors tour the homestead interior, including the kitchen, and explore the adjacent Annex Building, which houses a recreated General Store. The organization maintains rotating exhibits such as the Radio and TV History Exhibit and an Antique Toy Exhibit, along with displays on the second floor of the farmhouse building. The Society hosts seasonal events including the Annual Holiday Open House, which features a train display, plus Farm Day and a Fall Festival. Educational programs support Sayville High School students through history scholarships. Located in Sayville, New York, the Edwards Homestead stands on the National Register of Historical Places and represents one of the state's oldest continuously family-occupied homes.
