About Palatine Historical Society
The Palatine Historical Society operates the Clayson House Museum, a French Second Empire residence built in 1873 by nurseryman George Henry Clayson. Visitors tour the restored home, which features a Mansard roof with dormers and Victorian Italianate details including bay windows and brackets. The museum displays artifacts and exhibits related to Palatine's history, including the "Hats Off to You" collection. The society also hosts seasonal events such as the Annual Cemetery Walk and Clayson House After Dark, as well as a Christmas Open House.
