Nature Center at Greenburgh in Scarsdale offers visitors hands-on exploration of natural habitats and wildlife. The live animal museum at the Manor House displays animal ambassadors and opens Tuesday through Sunday. The grounds remain open daily from dawn to dusk for walking and nature observation. Children ages 4 to 7 can participate in Dino Dig, an outdoor paleontologist activity where they unearth fossils hidden in sand. Middle school students join Jr. Naturalist After School programs on Thursdays to study forest ecology, wildlife observation, and plant and animal identification over five-week sessions. Day camps for kindergarten through third grade include meeting animal ambassadors, crafts, nature games, and outdoor adventures. The center also hosts target archery instruction for ages 10 and up, trivia nights for adults, and educational webinars on native plant gardening. A new Welcome Center hosts activities and special events throughout the year. Admission to the live animal museum is charged, while the grounds are free to explore.
