About Mc Cord Gallery & Cultural Center

McCord Gallery & Cultural Center in Palos Park preserves the historic McCord House as a learning center for the arts and cultural history. Visitors view artwork by local and regional artists displayed throughout the gallery spaces. The center offers classes and workshops in visual arts and music, with nearly 120 music students and 100 art students attending each session. The Anderson Annex, which opened in 2017, houses an expanded gallery, classroom, stage, and full kitchen facilities. The McCord House itself contains historical details tucked beneath oak floors and behind age-old wall coverings that reflect the community's past. The center operates six days a week and serves the southwest Chicagoland community through arts programming and cultural events. McCord Gallery is staffed by volunteers and funded through grants from the Illinois Arts Council, Chicago Southland Convention and Visitors Bureau, and local banks and foundations.
