The Lynn H. Wood Archaeological Museum in Collegedale invites visitors to explore ancient ceramic vessels and artifacts from the biblical world. The current exhibition, Vessels in Time, features pottery and objects connected to figures including Abraham, David, Deborah, Esther, Nebuchadnezzar, and Jeremiah. Visitors encounter a diorama of an Iron Age home depicting the beit ab, or "house of the father," which formed the foundation of Israelite household life and extended family compounds. The museum displays the Jericho Chalice, an Early Bronze Age ceramic vessel with a distinctive carinated design that demonstrates the shift from slow-wheel to fast-wheel pottery techniques. Through these artifacts and exhibits, guests learn how archaeology reconnects people with the places and events of biblical history. The museum offers scheduled tours and educational resources for grade school groups, along with a lecture series presenting archaeological discoveries and interpretations.
