About Los Angeles Live Steamers Railroad Museum

Los Angeles Live Steamers Railroad Museum operates a scale model railroad spanning over a mile through 13 acres in Griffith Park. Founded in 1956 by train enthusiasts, the all-volunteer organization displays live steam, gas-mechanical, and electric railroad technology in working operation, with most equipment built by members. The facility features tracks in four gauges—Gauge-1, 7-1/2", 4-3/4", and 3-1/2"—plus a fully automated block signal system with more than 70 signals, a 68-foot truss bridge, three tunnels, and several additional bridges. The museum includes two train yards with two turntables and 44 steaming bays. Public rides operate on Sundays, weather permitting, with hours published on the venue's website. The souvenir window stocks T-shirts, lapel pins, wooden train whistles, and other items. A Kountry Kitchen serves meals onsite.
