About La Historia Society

La Historia Historical Society Museum preserves the cultural heritage and legacy of Mexican American communities in El Monte and South El Monte. Visitors explore the museum's archival collection, which focuses largely on visual media documenting the region's history. The featured exhibit, Women of El Monte, honors the remarkable women who shaped the community, whether born, migrated, or worked there. The museum captures individual narratives through oral histories and conducts family scanning days where visitors can contribute personal photographs to the collection. Community events throughout the year celebrate the vibrant heritage of El Monte. The museum also hosts activities such as Valentine's cardmaking for Meals on Wheels, engaging visitors in both cultural preservation and community service. Located in El Monte, California, this nonprofit organization founded in 1998 by residents serves those interested in Mexican American history and local community stories.
