About Glencairn Museum

Glencairn Museum in Bryn Athyn is a museum of religious art and history housed in a National Historic Landmark built between 1928 and 1939. Visitors explore galleries displaying ancient Egyptian, Greek, Roman, medieval Christian, Islamic, Asian, and Indigenous American artifacts and artworks. The museum interprets these objects as expressions of religious belief and practice, inviting visitors to engage with how different cultures expressed their spiritual traditions through material objects. Current exhibitions include The Sacred Art of Ethiopia, featuring hammered metal processional crosses, folding icons, and leather and parchment paintings created over the past thirty to fifty years, and World Nativities, presenting dozens of three-dimensional Nativity scenes collected from around the world. Visitors choose between self-guided access to the first floor or guided tours that explore upper floors and the Tower. The museum hosts events including festivals, concerts, workshops, and lectures. Children in eighth grade and younger must be accompanied by an adult throughout their visit.
