About Fort Loramie Historical Association

The Fort Loramie Historical Association operates the Wilderness Trail Museum, where visitors explore exhibits on Indian artifacts, Miami-Erie Canal history, a turn-of-the-century barroom, military displays, a schoolroom, church room, business room, heritage room, music room, and a country store replica. A barn behind the museum houses old-time farm equipment. The Association hosts Colonial Christmas dinners with members and students in period costumes serving elegant dining and period entertainment. Other programs include pioneer craft displays, military service honors, German heritage music and exhibits, genealogical programs, and historical lectures. The museum is available by appointment and during regular public hours. The Association, formed in 1971 to collect and preserve local historical artifacts, has published multiple histories of Fort Loramie, including a 2012 commemorative volume marking the town's 175th anniversary. The museum stands along the Miami-Erie Canal in Fort Loramie, Ohio.
