About Beavercreek Historical Society
The Beavercreek Historical Society preserves and shares the heritage of early settlement in Ohio through exhibits, educational programs, and historic sites. Visitors explore Wartinger Park, which features four original log cabins built by early settlers: the Philip Harshman cabin from 1804, the John Nicodemus cabin from 1811, the George Jarusiewic cabin from 1805, and the Samuel Ankeney cabin from 1828. The park also contains a replica of the Tobias-Zimmer Barn, originally constructed in 1858. The society operates a learning and research center for historic education and hosts community programs including the annual Ice Cream Social and seasonal celebrations. The Living History Program serves third-grade students annually, bringing Ohio pioneer life to educational life through hands-on exploration of the historic structures and artifacts. Community members and students discover what daily life resembled for Beavercreek's pioneer families through direct engagement with these preserved buildings and grounds. Located in Dayton, Ohio, the historical society welcomes visitors to step back in time and connect with local history.
