About Greene County Ohio Historical Society
The Greene County Ohio Historical Society Museum in Xenia is a multi-building campus that preserves and displays Greene County history from early Native American hunters through the twentieth century. Visitors explore exhibits spanning centuries of local settlement and development. The centerpiece of the museum is the Galloway Cabin, constructed in 1799, which exemplifies the region's pioneer heritage. The museum also interprets the Holland family story, including the remarkable history of George, William, and Andrew Holland, free African American brothers who purchased land near the cabin in the 1850s and raised their families in the area. The museum's exhibits and structures tell interconnected stories of the people and families who shaped Greene County over more than two centuries.
