About Fitzgerald Blue & Gray Museum

The Blue & Gray Museum, housed in a renovated historical railroad depot in Fitzgerald, Georgia, tells the founding story through more than 1200 objects, photographs, household items, and rare artifacts. The Hall of Honor represents a Shacktown tent where early pioneers lived and features names of Civil War Veterans who founded the city, along with an overhead display of rare swords and canes. Visitors may have their photograph taken with their state flag for display in this section. The museum shows a professionally produced documentary called Marching as One, narrated by actor Wilbur Fitzgerald, featuring rare archival photographs from the city's earliest years. A refurbished section honors Fitzgerald-born Marine General Raymond Gilbert Davis, the nation's most highly decorated Marine, who served in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. The Colony Days Gallery displays clothing, china, glassware, cooking utensils, and Victorian memorabilia from women pioneers.
