About Battleship Texas

Battleship Texas is a museum and memorial housed aboard a decommissioned naval vessel in Galveston, Texas. Visitors tour the ship to learn about her role as the world's last surviving Dreadnought and explore exhibits covering her service in both World Wars. The vessel was the most powerful weapon in the world in 1914 and led innovations in gunnery, aviation, and radar throughout her 34-year career. A virtual exhibit documents the Battleship Texas's participation in the D-Day landings at Normandy, the largest amphibious invasion of Europe. The ship carries the history of tens of thousands of sailors and marines who served aboard her. Educational programs, artifacts, and crew member histories provide insight into naval operations and the legacies of those who fought onboard. The attraction is operated by the Battleship Texas Foundation as a premier hands-on museum and visitor destination. The ship is currently undergoing major restoration work.
