About Ardenwood Train Rides by SPCRR
Ardenwood Train Rides by SPCRR in Fremont operates seasonal train rides through Ardenwood farm aboard a recreation of the South Pacific Coast railroad. Visitors board historic rail equipment and experience a journey through the farm landscape on vintage rolling stock. The attraction preserves local railroad history through its collection of historic railroad cars and equipment, many of which are displayed during the annual Rail Fair celebration held Memorial Day weekend. The museum features exhibits on the South Pacific Coast railroad and Carter Brothers Car Builders, along with model train displays and other transit exhibits. During Rail Fair, the collection expands to include delicate and historic railroad cars normally kept in storage for preservation, with docents and signage explaining their historical significance. The celebration also features live bluegrass music and occasionally includes rides behind visiting steam locomotives. The site offers hands-on volunteer opportunities for visitors interested in restoring and operating historic rail equipment.
