About Andy Griffith Museum

The Andy Griffith Museum celebrates the life and career of Mount Airy native Andy Griffith through hundreds of artifacts and memorabilia. Visitors explore props, wardrobe, and other items from The Andy Griffith Show and Matlock, donated by the Griffiths themselves, cast and crew members, and other contributors. The collection was assembled by lifelong resident Emmett Forrest, a childhood friend of Griffith's, and underwent substantial renovation completed in 2017 to enhance the visitor experience and preserve items for future generations. The museum also provides access to additional exhibits within walking distance, including the Betty Lynn exhibit, Old-Time Music Heritage Hall at the Historic Earle Theatre, and the Mount Airy to Mayberry Photo exhibit. A Mayberry Mural and museum theatre are on-site. Guided tours are available. The museum operates in Mount Airy, North Carolina, and is open seven days a week except on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Hours and admission prices are published on the museum's website.
