About West Nassau Museum of History

The West Nassau Museum of History occupies a historic train depot at the heart of Callahan's railroad heritage. Visitors explore the restored Victorian-era building, which began as a passenger depot in 1881 and was expanded around 1910 to include a freight operation, clerk's office, and separate waiting rooms. The depot preserves artifacts and displays documenting local history and the region's railroad past. The museum hosts the annual Railroad Day Festival and participates in programs including a Smithsonian Food Exhibit featuring historic recipes. The West Nassau Historical Society, which operates the museum, also offers Senior 55+ Art Classes and organizes the Nassau County Art Show. The building underwent extensive renovation in the 1980s and now serves as headquarters for the historical society. General admission is free. The museum is located in Callahan, Florida.
