High Springs Museum preserves the history of High Springs, Florida during the railroad era of the 1800s through early 1900s. Visitors travel back in time learning how people lived, worked, and played when the town served as "The Railroad Center" for the Plant System rail yard, roundhouse, and repair shops. The museum, housed in the Old Schoolhouse in downtown High Springs behind City Hall, displays artifacts and documents relating to the community's past, including materials about the Savannah, Florida and Western railroad that connected local farmers shipping tobacco, peanuts, corn, and melons to market. The museum is designed to be kid-friendly, featuring a Children's Interactive Thomas the Tank train exhibit with Cranky. Visitors can explore historical collections and memorabilia documenting High Springs' transformation from a railroad company town to a modern gateway to local springs and rivers. General admission is free, and tours are available by appointment.
Admission is free. The venue says: “Free Admission / Donations Welcomed”
Hours: Saturday 11 a.m.–4 p.m.
