Washington-on-the-Brazos State Historic Site spans 293 acres where visitors explore the location where Texas declared independence from Mexico. The site features Independence Hall, a replica of the building where delegates met to draft the Texas Declaration of Independence, along with the Star of the Republic Museum and Barrington Living History Farm. At Barrington, costumed staff demonstrate 1850s life through gardening, cooking at an open hearth, and caring for livestock breeds on the original home of Dr. Anson Jones, the last president of the Republic of Texas. The Visitor Center offers interactive exhibits presenting a timeline of the Texas Revolution and houses a museum store.
