About The McClendon House

The Bonner-Whitaker-McClendon House, built in 1878, is a Victorian historic home where visitors take guided tours of the East Lake Bracketed architecture and original furnishings. The house, designated a Tyler Historic Landmark and listed in the National Register of Historic Places, opens Fridays and Saturdays for group tours by arrangement. Visitors explore rotating exhibits displaying artifacts collected over more than a century of family occupation, including items from descendants who preserved the home's contents. The house accommodates murder mystery events for groups of at least twenty people, with or without dinner service. Small groups up to thirty-five people can rent the space for weddings, baby showers, bridal showers, bridge club gatherings, mahjong groups, garden club meetings, and family reunions. Located at 806 West Houston in Tyler, the McClendon House offers tours of period rooms and serves as a venue for private events.
