About Caldwell Zoo

Caldwell Zoo in Tyler showcases more than 3,000 animals across 80 landscaped acres. Visitors walk through habitats featuring jaguars in nature-inspired spaces with pools, capybaras in the Amazon River's Edge exhibit, and giant river otters in habitats with flowing water features. The zoo also maintains Texas horned lizards as part of its conservation work. Educational programs include ZooSchool for nature-based learning, ZooCrew volunteer opportunities, and summer camp activities. Birthday parties and private events can be held on the grounds. The Chakula Café offers dining on a patio, with vending machines and restrooms positioned throughout the campus. Stroller and wheelchair rentals are available at Visitor Services. The zoo operates daily and accepts online ticket purchases through its website. It is located on the northwest side of Tyler, accessible from Highway 69 and Loop 323 near West Gentry Parkway and Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard.
