Starr Family Home State Historic Site in Marshall preserves the 150-year history of the Starr family through an 1871 Greek Revival home and several period structures. Visitors tour the main residence to learn about Dr. James Harper Starr, who settled in Texas in 1837, and trace his family's role in settling more than a third of the state. Inside, period furnishings, clothing, and antiques show how the home and its inhabitants evolved across four generations. Rooms include a parlor, bedroom, and dining area, each furnished to reflect daily life in the Starr household. Children have access to a play area within the home. The site offers public tours, school programs, and special events throughout the year. Genealogy workshops and educational programs focus on topics like the Starr children's education and family history. The site is located in Marshall's cultural district.
Hours: Tuesday to Saturday 10 a.m.–4 p.m.
