About Marshall Depot Inc.

Marshall Depot Inc. houses the Texas & Pacific Railway Museum in a historic 1912 railroad station. Visitors explore the beautifully restored three-story, 7,500 square foot red brick building, which once served as a waiting room and regional administrative headquarters for the Texas & Pacific Railroad. The museum displays the former T&P 2-8-2 Mikado locomotive #400 and a Union Pacific caboose on the surrounding grounds. From the depot's upper-level balcony, visitors survey the townscape and historic landmarks. Inside, exhibits interpret the history of Marshall's railroad heritage and the once-sprawling 66-acre shop complex that surrounded the station. The station functions as an Amtrak stop and includes a gift shop. The exterior has remained essentially unchanged since construction, while the interior was significantly rehabilitated in 1999 when whitewash was removed and the original red brick restored.
