The Michelson Museum of Art in Marshall displays works from its founding collection of more than 1,000 pieces created by artist Leo Michelson, alongside the Kronenberg Collection of early twentieth-century immigrant artists including Milton Avery and Henri Matisse, plus antique African masks and artifacts from the mid-1800s and antique Chinese puppets. Visitors explore three exhibit galleries featuring rotating exhibitions such as the LANDSLIDE exhibition. The museum hosts adult workshops led by artists, gallery talks about featured artists, and family events including presentations on topics like the Neches River. The facility includes an 80-person auditorium, classroom, and family Discovery Room. General admission is free. The museum is completely wheelchair accessible. Visitors may take personal non-flash photography in the galleries but must stay twelve inches from artwork and keep cell phones silent. Service animals are permitted. The museum is located in downtown Marshall.
