Varner-Hogg Plantation State Historic Site preserves 134 years of Texas history through the main house, cottage, and outbuildings that visitors tour to learn how the Varners, Pattons, and Hoggs built their enterprise across sugarcane production, cattle ranching, and oil drilling. The "See the Site" tour includes the main residence with period furnishings, a kitchen, family rooms, and exhibits documenting the families—both enslaved and free—whose labor shaped the plantation. Visitors also observe the oil pump and carriage in the barn. Public tours and special events run Wednesday through Sunday. School programs serve student groups.
