About Fulton Mansion State Historic Site
Fulton Mansion State Historic Site in Rockport preserves a Victorian villa built in 1877 by entrepreneur George W. Fulton and his wife Harriet Smith. Visitors tour the mansion's interior rooms including the parlor, dining room, and office while learning about the couple's lives and the home's progressive features for that era. The house showcased interior gas lighting, flush toilets, and ornate trim with a distinctive mansard roof. Guests explore a garden inspired by Harriet's love of flowers and walk the grounds surrounded by stately live oaks. The Education and History Center, located behind the mansion, serves as the starting point for visits. The site is a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark and appears on the National Register of Historic Places. School groups and larger parties may arrange guided tours. The mansion charges admission and publishes its prices online.
