About The Little Museum

The Little Museum in Driftwood preserves the history of Cameron County through over 15,000 artifacts displayed in a restored two-room schoolhouse. The building itself, ordered from Pittsburgh in 1930 and delivered by Pennsylvania Railroad, represents one of only two remaining Liberty Type prefabricated schools still standing. Visitors explore exhibits on the lumber industry with rare tools and photographs, alongside displays from iron smelting, tanning, and dynamite production. Military collections span the Civil War through the Vietnam Conflict, including rare photographs of the Pennsylvania Bucktail Regiment and artifacts from local Civilian Conservation Corps camps. Throughout the museum are everyday items from earlier eras: toys, dolls, a working 1896 Regina Music Box, mounted wildlife specimens, medical instruments, wood carvings, period clothing, and school memorabilia. The collection includes a dedicated section housing General Joseph McNarney's military and personal effects. Behind the museum, Lumber Township's playground offers a pavilion and picnic tables for families. Many exhibits appeal to children.
