About Fort Roberdeau Historic Site
Fort Roberdeau Historic Site features a reconstructed Revolutionary War fort with hiking trails and grounds where visitors explore the lead mine fort, a restored 19th century farmhouse and barn, and costumed interpreters who bring frontier life to the region. Guided tours take guests through the fort buildings and smelter during operating season. The site hosts school field trips where students experience firsthand what frontier defense and civilian life entailed during the Revolution. Special events throughout the year include reenactments, living history demonstrations, and hands-on activities for all ages. A covered picnic pavilion and modern restroom facilities serve visitors on the grounds. Geocaching and nature programs offer additional outdoor exploration. The gift shop, located in the barn, handles tour ticket purchases. Fort Roberdeau Historic Site is located in Altoona, Pennsylvania, and welcomes families, students, and history enthusiasts to its 19th century buildings and Revolutionary War heritage.
