About Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art

The Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art in Altoona operates in the Brett Building, where visitors explore exhibitions of local, regional, national and international artists. The museum maintains a permanent collection of more than 7,500 works and presents approximately thirty to forty exhibitions annually. Visitors can view paintings, sculptures and other artworks displayed in main-floor galleries. The museum offers award-winning educational programs that give students hands-on experiences with art and history while encouraging critical thinking and observation skills. Workshops, lectures and special events happen throughout the year. General admission is free. The museum is open Wednesday through Sunday from noon to 4:30 p.m. and closed Monday and Tuesday. Free parking is available, with limited one-hour street parking in front and longer-term parking at the nearby Altoona Parking Authority garage. The facility is accessible to all visitors on the main floor.
