About Swedish American Museum

The Swedish American Museum interprets Swedish immigration and contemporary Swedish-American culture through exhibits, programs, and classes. Visitors explore the We Are America exhibit and special art installations in two gallery spaces, then visit the Brunk Children's Museum of Immigration to learn how families came to America. The museum offers guided tours, classes in Swedish Kurbits painting, knitting groups, and artist talks. Mormors Café serves food and beverages during museum hours. The Kerstin Andersson Museum Store sells Swedish gifts and crafts. The 24,000 square-foot facility in Andersonville, Chicago's traditionally Swedish neighborhood, suits both children and adults interested in immigration history and Nordic heritage. All areas are wheelchair accessible, and large-print guides and sign-language interpretation are available upon request. The museum is closed Mondays.
