About Brushwood Center at Ryerson Woods

Brushwood Center at Ryerson Woods in Riverwoods explores the connections between art, health, justice, and nature through exhibitions, classes, and community programs. Visitors explore the Brushwood Gallery, which hosts rotating exhibitions reflecting diverse voices and themes about equity and nature's impact on wellbeing. The center offers arts and music programs with over 300 artists annually, alongside nature-based activities. It's a W.I.N. brings children and families outdoors through field trips and nature outings combined with arts activities. At Ease serves veterans and military members through nature-based art, music, and community workshops. The center also houses BASE: Brushwood Art Supply Exchange, a creative reuse center for arts and craft supplies. The historic Ryerson estate grounds provide access to natural areas and hiking trails. The center welcomes families, students, veterans, and community groups interested in outdoor experiences paired with creative practice.
