About Deerfield Area Historical Society
The Deerfield Area Historical Society operates the Deerfield Historic Village, a collection of five historic buildings where visitors tour structures dating from 1837 to 1905. The Caspar Ott Log House, Lake County's oldest standing building from 1837, displays how a tailor's family lived in a one-room home. The George Luther House from 1847 serves as a visitor center with special exhibits. The Bartle Sacker Farmhouse, furnished with period artifacts from daily farm life, shows how families worked and lived in the mid-19th century. The Little Red Schoolhouse, a replica from around 1890, contains period school items and welcomes District 109 students for single-day class visits. The Carriage House displays antique carriages and farm equipment in a structure built around 1905. The Village opens for tours on Sunday afternoons during summer months. Group and school tours are available by arrangement. The site is located in Deerfield, Illinois.
