About History Center of Lake Forest-Lake Bluff

The History Center of Lake Forest-Lake Bluff explores the history of these two communities through free exhibition halls and gardens open daily from sunrise to sunset. The Hunter Family Education Hall displays more than 450 stories spanning from the Paleoindian era to present-day residents, chronicling how these communities have evolved. Visitors can explore docent-led walking tours including routes through Historic Market Square, the Heart of Old Lake Forest, Lake Forest College Campus, and Lake Forest Cemetery. Bike tours through central and east Lake Forest neighborhoods are also available. The center offers more than 40 free programs and lectures annually covering topics like West Lake Forest history, the Lake Bluff Camp Meeting, and local wartime experiences. A research center with archives supports historians and history enthusiasts. The History Center is located at the corner of Deerpath Road in Lake Forest, with accessible parking and wheelchair-accessible entrances.
