About SS Jeremiah O'Brien

SS Jeremiah O'Brien, moored at Pier 35, is the last unaltered Liberty Ship in existence and a fully operational memorial to World War II cargo vessels and the men and women who built and sailed them. Visitors board the ship and explore the entire vessel from engine room to flying bridge, with the ship certified by the U.S. Coast Guard and open daily. The ship made seven wartime voyages and eleven D-Day Channel crossings to Normandy before being restored by volunteers and returning to San Francisco in 1994. School groups, scouts, and families can participate in overnight programs most Fridays and Saturdays, sleeping aboard the vessel as a hands-on history experience.
