Schnormeier Gardens is a fifty-acre landscape in central Ohio where visitors explore manicured lawns, ten lakes, waterfalls, and distinct garden areas set among rolling hills. The grounds feature the Chinese Cup Garden with its boulder-formed cliffs, the Waterfalls Garden anchored by large waterfalls built in 1996, and the Stream Garden centered on a four-hundred-foot mountain stream flowing at six hundred gallons per minute. The Serenity Garden occupies the hilltop area behind the main house, surrounded by mature hardwoods. Structures on the property include a Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired home completed in 1994, a Japanese teahouse, garden house, Chinese pavilion, and arched bridge. An expanding collection of sculptures dots the grounds throughout. The gardens emphasize Asian design and feature rare conifers, colorful and textured plantings, large boulders, and stone walls. Visitors can observe these plantings and landscape elements in any season. The gardens are located in Gambier.
