About San Francisco Historical Society

The Museum of San Francisco occupies the site of the first mint in the West, built during the Gold Rush in downtown San Francisco. Visitors explore the building's colorful history through permanent and rotating exhibits. The museum features vintage San Francisco-themed pinball machines, including a one-of-a-kind game displaying an aerial view of the 1939-1940 Golden Gate International Exhibition, accompanied by rare archival footage. Two playable pinball machines are available without cost. The museum also displays a Wells Fargo stagecoach and exhibits exploring historical narratives and the city's past. Free docent tours occur on Saturdays at 11:30 AM and 1:30 PM, deepening visitors' understanding of San Francisco's history. The facility accommodates private events. The museum is located in San Francisco, California.
