The Phoenix Wheel is a restored 78-foot-high Ferris wheel standing as a permanent sculpture in central Phoenixville, adjacent to Borough Hall. Built in 1893 by the Phoenix Bridge Company, this is the oldest Ferris wheel in existence and the only remaining one of four original Phoenix Wheels manufactured in Phoenixville during the industrial era. The Schuylkill River Heritage Center acquired the wheel's original steel components and oversaw its restoration. Visitors can see the reconstructed wheel with its 16 seating baskets, each standing eight feet tall, which were restored and reinstalled at the site. The structure represents the skilled craftsmanship of Phoenixville's industrial heritage. Walking through the grounds and examining the wheel's engineering details offers insight into the region's historic significance during Pennsylvania's industrial period.
