About Pacific Heritage Museum

The Pacific Heritage Museum occupies a restored 1800s building in San Francisco's Financial District that originally housed the US Branch Mint and later the US Subtreasury. Visitors explore rotating exhibitions celebrating the heritage and achievements of Pacific Rim peoples across four continents and hemispheres. Past exhibits have included "The Art of Tea: China & Beyond" and "With Best Wishes: Symbolism and Hidden Meanings in Chinese Art." The museum spans three floors, with the first two levels focusing on the building's history and featuring a replica of a bank vault from the Treasury Department era alongside a collection of rare antique silver coins. The museum was founded by the Bank of Canton of California, now known as East West Bank, and underwent restoration in 1984. The building is recognized as a historical landmark by both California and San Francisco.
