The Military History Society of Rochester preserves and exhibits the military heritage of the Greater Rochester area from the War of 1812 to the present day. Visitors explore artifacts and materials spanning all eras of United States military history, including exhibits on the Civil War's 108th New York Infantry regiment, the Berlin Airlift, and Woman's Army Shoes from the E.P. Reed factory during World War II. The society's collection and library contain specific historical pieces such as the Badge of Military Merit and portraits of Union Army officers. A special exhibit area changes regularly to highlight different periods and stories. Located in the historic Anderson Arts Building, the museum serves anyone interested in understanding the region's military past and honoring those who served. The collection is open to the general public free of charge.
