About Mayfield Township Historical Society

The Mayfield Township Historical Society preserves artifacts, documents and materials from the original Mayfield Township, established in 1819, which later divided into Gates Mills, Highland Heights, Mayfield Heights, Mayfield Village and part of Lyndhurst. The Bennett-VanCuren Historic House, built in 1847, features thirteen restored rooms displaying furnishings and décor from 1805 to 1930. Visitors tour the house on weekday mornings or by appointment. The society maintains an extensive local history research library housed in the historic building. The Mayfield Quilters gather regularly at the location. Third-grade classes visit each spring as part of their educational programming. Monthly historical meetings featuring local speakers are held at the Mayfield Village Community Room. The organization welcomes new members interested in regional history.
