About Lake County Historical Society
The Lake County History Center in Painesville offers self-guided museum tours through exhibits covering Lake County military history, a law room, a 1940s kitchen, Doris Martin's doll houses, and the President James Garfield room. Visitors can explore a replica 1800s log cabin, a general store, and a one-room schoolhouse on the grounds. The museum also hosts educational programs where children participate in pioneer activities including period chores, bartering, and hand-dipped candle making. Special events throughout the year include ghost hunts, lantern tours, and a Victorian funeral tea party. The Lake County History Center publishes admission prices online and offers guided group tours. The museum is located in Painesville Township, Ohio, and operates on a limited weekly schedule.
