About Mary's Magical Place

Mary's Magical Place is a 15,000 square foot all-inclusive playground at Veterans Park in Hendersonville, Tennessee, designed so children with and without disabilities can play together. The playground features specialized play structures and inclusive elements built for children with autism, Down syndrome, vision and hearing impairments, mobility issues, and sensory disorders. All children and adults, ranging from able-bodied visitors to those in wheelchairs, can access and enjoy the equipment. The park was created in memory of Mary Elizabeth McAuley, who passed away at age fourteen from complications of cerebral palsy. Because her own mobility challenges prevented her from experiencing playground swings, the playground emphasizes inclusive design so no child faces similar barriers. The venue publishes dedicated hours for visitors with special abilities and their families on its website.
