About Monthaven Arts & Cultural Center

Monthaven Arts and Cultural Center in Hendersonville presents regional, national and international art exhibitions in an 1850s antebellum mansion that once served as a Civil War field hospital. The nonprofit organization, founded in 2017, stages six to eight major exhibitions annually, featuring works ranging from ceramics by Pablo Picasso and prints by Rembrandt van Rijn to paintings by pop-art icon Peter Max. Visitors explore intimate galleries displaying rotating exhibitions, with recent shows including the annual Veterans Art Exhibition and the James B. Hawkins Sumner County Student Art Show. The center offers art classes for all ages led by professional instructors, ranging from children to adults across various skill levels. Throughout the year, the MACC hosts concerts, festivals and cultural events including the Sweet Summer Concert Series and ArtoberFest. Staff-led and docent-led tours provide guided ways to experience the exhibitions. General admission to exhibitions is free.
