About Leonis Adobe Museum

The Leonis Adobe Museum in Calabasas preserves an 1880s rancho house where visitors learn about the Leonis family and California's Rancho period through guided tours. Led by museum guides, these approximately thirty-minute tours proceed room by room through the historic adobe, exploring the family's story and the era in which they lived. Guests meet at the front porch of the adobe at scheduled times on Saturdays and Sundays. Beyond the house, the grounds remain open for free exploration during operating hours. The museum features Percheron horses named Merlin and Goliath that visitors can observe and feed. An audio tour and video option allow access to the upstairs for those unable to use stairs. The museum also presents the Leonis Legacies video series, which covers topics including Espiritu Chijulla Leonis and her legal efforts to retain the adobe after her husband's death.
