About Julian Pioneer Museum

Julian Pioneer Museum houses mounted animals representing species found in the Julian area, displayed at eye level and from above throughout its galleries. The museum occupies the restored Treshil blacksmith shop and presents artifacts depicting Julian's history from 1869 onward, showing how residents labored, traveled, cooked and clothed themselves. Visitors encounter kitchen equipment, clothing, tools and furnishings arranged across multiple vantage points. A Native American display covers the villages that scattered throughout the area before Julian's founding. The museum operates Friday through Sunday with hours posted online, run by volunteers who open by special appointment for schools and large groups. Admission is five dollars per person, and children twelve and under are free.
