About California Wolf Center

California Wolf Center is San Diego County's only wolf conservation center, where visitors book guided tours to see resident wolf packs and learn about wolf conservation in the Julian mountains. The conservation center houses North American gray wolves and Mexican gray wolves, many part of the Mexican Wolf Species Survival Plan, a captive breeding program for the critically endangered Mexican gray wolf. The center also operates a Nature Store in downtown Julian featuring educational exhibits and wildlife-themed gifts, open Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The organization focuses on Mexican Gray Wolf Recovery and California Wolf Recovery, running a Range Steward program that trains ranchers to reduce wolf-livestock conflict. All tours require advance reservation. Members receive a 10 percent discount on public conservation tours for the entire party with unlimited use, according to californiawolfcenter.org.
