Jacob Henry Mansion is an 1873 National Historic Landmark in Joliet featuring one of Illinois's finest examples of Renaissance Revival architecture. Visitors tour the fully decorated mansion, a 16,800-square-foot structure with over 40 rooms built by railroad magnate Jacob A. Henry. The main floor showcases elaborate hand-carved details in black walnut and oak with a satin finish, and each room contains an ornately carved fireplace. A central feature is the magnificent solid walnut staircase with a half-landing surrounded by 119 hand-carved octagonal spindles of burled walnut. The mansion's deeply recessed windows include interior folding shutters that serve as storm windows. Sliding pocket doors with carved inlays separate rooms throughout. The estate also includes the Old Central Church and Lawn & Gardens as on-site venues. The mansion serves as a setting for weddings, ceremonies, receptions, showers, rehearsal dinners, corporate functions, and family reunions. It is located in Joliet, Illinois.
