About Hunter Hobby Park

Hunter Hobby Park spans 32 acres in the northeast corner of Riverside and preserves the history of steam locomotives through a working miniature railroad. The park features 10,000 feet of track along with a scale model steam locomotive and accompanying cars, built to replicate full-size engines that once traveled through Riverside. The attraction originated in the 1950s when industrialist Joe Hunter sought to ensure future generations could experience steam railroad heritage as locomotives disappeared from active service. Visitors can ride the miniature train as it travels the park's extensive track system, observing the detailed construction and operation of the scaled engines and cars. The park includes various exhibits and displays related to railroad history, allowing guests to learn about locomotive engineering and the role of rail transportation in the region's development.
