Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum is the only remaining grand country estate in Pelham Bay Park, where visitors explore a Greek Revival mansion and carriage house depicting 19th-century family life. Guided tours focus on the mansion's architecture, period rooms, and history of its inhabitants. The collection features nineteenth-century American furniture, fine and decorative arts displayed throughout the building's three floors. Visitors may stroll the nine-acre grounds and formal gardens designed by Delano & Aldrich, viewing bronze peacock sculptures by Gaston Lachaise. The museum offers school field trips where students participate in hands-on activities like harvesting vegetables in the garden. A free digital guide through the Bloomberg Connects app provides multimedia perspectives about the gardens, architecture, and collection. Located in the Bronx, the mansion and gardens are surrounded by woods and marshland within Pelham Bay Park.
Hours: Wednesdays 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
