About Marine Education Center

Marine Education Center connects visitors with Long Island Sound through hands-on marine science and discovery. The aquarium features live animals collected from the harbor, including sea robins, horseshoe crabs, fiddler crabs, and American eels. Each species represents distinct marine ecology: sea robins use spiny legs to search the bottom for food, horseshoe crabs are living fossils unchanged for 300 million years, and American eels migrate to the Sargasso Sea to spawn. The Shoreline Explorers after-school program for kindergarten through fifth graders includes shoreline exploration, close encounters with live animals, science experiments, and ocean-inspired art. Family Tides drop-in sessions offer morning hands-on marine science activities. All ages may participate in programs at the center, located at Harbor Island Park in Mamaroneck, New York. Parents and caregivers must be present during visits.
