About Clay Art Center

Clay Art Center is a nonprofit ceramic arts facility where visitors take classes in pottery and clay work, view exhibitions of contemporary ceramics, and tour artist studios. Founded in 1957 by Katherine Choy and Henry Okamoto, the center now serves over 40,000 people annually across the tri-state area. Adults and youth ages 6 and up can enroll in weekly classes or one-time Saturday Clay sessions. The gallery presents rotating exhibitions alongside the permanent Katherine Choy collection. Visitors can attend free public guided tours every Wednesday at 11:30am that explore current exhibitions, artist studios, ceramics classrooms, and kiln facilities. The on-site shop stocks handmade pottery and ceramics by more than 65 artists, offering functional pieces like mugs and bowls alongside sculptural home accents and gifts. The facility also hosts community art programs, artist talks, and public mosaic projects. Clay Art Center is located in Port Chester, New York, and operates with a gallery and shop open to the public.
